The Community Center is located in a very poor area of Agua Prieta and was started with the vision of reaching the numerous children and their families. The Community Center is like a “diamond in the rough”, a glimpse of hope surrounded by such despair.
After 3 years of construction, it consists of the following: a playground; a building which houses a hair salon, an office, a classroom and a small efficiency apartment; a large multi-use auditorium which is used to show Christian movies, host dinners and have various activities; a mini soccer/hockey field; and a medical house (which is currently in the final stages of construction).
We see the opportunity to be of service in many possible ways: teaching classes (such as English, the Bible, art, basic computer skills), supervising the playground and other activities, assisting with the hair salon, evangelism, construction, clothing/home article giveaways, Bible studies, Saturday evening services, special outreaches, …etc.
